Will IBM buy Sun Microsystems for 6.5 billion USD?

From the series of shopping events during actual financial crisis here comes the news that IBM would be interested in buying Sun Microsystems for 6.5 billion dollars. The information appeared few days ago in The Wall Street Journal.

However according to the same publication there is great chances that the transaction will not go ahead. If this will materialize would be the largest acquisition in IBM's history, more important than that with Congos. The American company acquired in 2007 software solutions provider Congos for the amount of 5 billion dollars.

However, Sun Microsystems is still searching for a large company to take over and IBM is adding to the list including HP and Dell. Sun Microsystems registered for the last financial year losses of 200 million dollars.
